A downloadable demo for Windows and Linux

This is interactive demo - not rly game.

Idea - move around large ring-like structure with speed of light and observer visual distortion.

In this demo - camera move with speed around circle - circle does not rotate/move.

Ring size: 

  • Radius = Sun radius 695,700 km 
  • Width = Jupiter diameter 71,492 km 
  • Building height = 500 km (max) 
  • Large square buildings is around 500 km size. 
  • Mountains around 10000 km height from water.
  • Ring does not rotate/go "faster than light" relative to camera - when camera go deeper inside (closer to ring center) 
  • Blue sphere at left on start - is Earth radius sphere. And  moon on real scale dist from Earth - small gray sphere above Earth move top(Q) on start.

Colors (redshift) - is artistic - not represent anything real.
 Path length = 4371211.9 km /c = full circle rotation = 14.5 sec.

CAMERA NOTE:

  • MAIN object that move with SPEED is on ring bottom.
  • CAMERA is on "extension-arm" from MAIN to CENTER
  • CAMERA speed IS RECALTULATED to height 
  • click X or 3 to change movement - BUT REMEMBER when camera move with speed equal to bot -  means - "this is just camera move forward in line and flying around sequence of rotated circles"

Control:

  • W/A/S/D or arrows to speed up/down and move left/right
  • Q/E or 1/2 to move up/down
  • R to stop speed=0
  • 3 or X to change camera movement behavior - read CAMERA NOTE
  • Space to pause - use wasd to change speed without moving

 UI:

  • Speed on circle bottom - 0-1 of c
  • Speed of camera - 0-1 of c (read CAMERA NOTE above)
  • Height - camera position above ring surface in k
  • Time - local Camera time (equal to real life) vs time at center - time dilation because camera move at relativistic speed.

Performance note - this is simple "shader demo" - performance may be bad for low-end hardware.
And exe-size is just 200kb.
